Frequently Asked Questions

Individual Therapy

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be helpful if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply curious about understanding yourself more deeply. You don't need to be in crisis to begin. You also don't need to have everything figured out. Whether something feels difficult, confusing, or has been weighing on you for a while, therapy offers a space to explore it together with curiosity and care.

Do you offer online or offline sessions?

I currently work with clients online. Most sessions are held via secure video call, allowing you to join from wherever feels most comfortable. If a telephone session is a better fit for your needs, that can be arranged as well. I don't offer in-person sessions at present.

How long is each session, and how often?

Sessions typically last 50–60 minutes. Most people begin with weekly sessions, and we revisit the frequency together as your needs evolve.

Is what we discuss confidential?

Yes. What you share stays confidential and is held with care, within professional and ethical guidelines. There are a few exceptions—for example, if there's an immediate risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or when disclosure is legally required. If these situations ever arise, I'll discuss them with you.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

You can cancel or reschedule your session up to 24 hours in advance. This allows me to offer the appointment to someone else who may be waiting. Cancellation or rescheduling within 24 hours of your session is charged at the full session fee.

What if we're not the right fit?

Finding the right therapist matters. If either of us feels that another therapist or a different approach would better support your needs, I'll be honest about it and, where possible, help you find an appropriate referral.

Can I stop therapy whenever I want?

Therapy is entirely voluntary. If you decide to pause or end therapy, we can talk about what feels right for you and bring the process to a thoughtful closure.

Do you work with clients outside India?

I work with clients across the world, provided we can find a mutually suitable time for sessions.

What if I need urgent support between sessions?

I'm not able to provide immediate or emergency support outside scheduled sessions. If you need urgent mental health support or are concerned about your safety, please contact your local emergency services, visit your nearest hospital, or reach out to a crisis helpline in your area. It's important that you receive immediate support from professionals who are equipped to help in those moments.

Couples Therapy

How is couples therapy different from individual therapy?

Couples therapy focuses on the relationship between two people and the patterns that emerge between them. Together, we explore communication, conflict, connection, trust, intimacy, and other concerns affecting your relationship. Individual therapy focuses on you—your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and personal growth. While relationships may be part of the work, the primary focus is understanding and supporting your own wellbeing.

Is couples therapy only for married couples?

Not at all. Couples therapy is open to people in committed relationships, regardless of whether you're married. It can also provide a supportive space for couples navigating major relationship challenges, including separation or divorce.

What if one of us wants therapy more than the other?

It's not uncommon for one partner to feel more ready for therapy than the other. While both people need to choose to participate, they don't have to begin the process with the same level of enthusiasm or certainty. Couples therapy isn't about deciding who's right or wrong, convincing one partner to change, or having the therapist take sides. It's a collaborative space to better understand your relationship, explore each other's perspectives, and have conversations that may be difficult to have on your own. It's completely okay to begin therapy with questions or uncertainties. Exploring those together is often a meaningful part of the process.

Can we attend sessions online if we're in different locations?

Yes. If you're in different locations, you can still attend the same session online. To help the session run smoothly, I ask that both of you join from a private, quiet space with a stable internet connection and minimise distractions as much as possible. During our conversations, we'll also work towards creating a respectful space where each person has the opportunity to speak without interruption. This means avoiding yelling, name-calling, threats, or other forms of disrespectful communication so that both people feel heard and safe enough to engage in the process.

What if one partner wants to stop therapy?

Couples therapy can only continue if both partners choose to participate. If one partner is considering ending therapy, we'll first take some time to understand what's contributing to that decision and whether it would be helpful to discuss it together. Sometimes, those conversations can offer valuable insight into the relationship itself. If one or both partners decide not to continue, we'll discuss the most appropriate next steps. Depending on the circumstances, this may include bringing the therapy to a close, exploring individual therapy, or considering another form of support where appropriate.

Can we switch between couples and individual therapy?

Not always. Couples and individual therapy have different goals, and moving between them requires careful consideration. To maintain trust, fairness and therapeutic neutrality, it isn't always appropriate for the same therapist to provide both forms of therapy. If individual support would be beneficial, we'll discuss the most appropriate next steps, which may include a referral to another therapist.

Therapist Supervision

Who is supervision for?

Supervision is for psychologists, therapists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals at different stages of their careers.

What is your supervision approach?

I see supervision as a collaborative space for reflection, learning, and professional growth. It's tailored to your needs and stage of practice. While case discussions are an important part of the process, we also explore therapeutic challenges, ethical dilemmas, countertransference, professional development, and your experience of being a therapist.

How often do supervision sessions take place?

Supervision can take place weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or according to the evolving needs of your practice. The right frequency depends on your stage of practice, caseload, and professional goals. While flexibility is important, I encourage consistent supervision, as it supports reflective practice, continued learning, and sustained professional growth.

Do you offer one-off supervision sessions or only ongoing supervision?

Both are possible. A one-off session can offer space to think through a specific clinical, ethical, or professional concern. However, I see supervision as an ongoing reflective practice rather than a one-time consultation. Meeting regularly allows us to develop a deeper understanding of your work, your therapeutic relationships, and your growth as a practitioner.

What makes your approach to supervision unique?

My approach to supervision is grounded in curiosity, reflection, and collaborative learning. Alongside clinical thinking, I encourage us to explore your therapeutic process, your experience of the work, and the broader contexts that shape both you and your clients. My aim isn't simply to help you arrive at the "right" intervention, but to support you in developing confidence, clinical judgement, and a way of practising that feels thoughtful, ethical, and authentic to you.

Workshops & Partnerships

Do you offer workshops online, in person, or both?

I facilitate both online and in-person workshops. I'm based in Bangalore, India, and am happy to travel for in-person workshops in other locations. For workshops outside Bangalore, travel, accommodation, and any related expenses would need to be covered by the organisation or group.

Can workshops be customised for our audience?

Yes. Every workshop is tailored to the needs of your audience and the goals you'd like to achieve. Whether you're looking for a one-time session, a multi-session programme, or something built around a specific theme or challenge, the content and format will be adapted accordingly.

How long are workshops typically?

The duration depends on the goals of the workshop and the needs of your organisation or group. Workshops can range from a single session to multi-part programmes delivered over several days or weeks. We'll decide on a format that best suits your audience, objectives, and schedule.

How many participants can attend a session?

There isn't a fixed number. The ideal group size depends on the goals and format of the session. Smaller groups are generally better suited for interactive workshops that involve discussion, reflection, and activities, particularly in online settings. Larger groups can work well for talks, webinars, keynote sessions, and introductory workshops where the focus is on sharing ideas with a broader audience. We'll determine the most appropriate format based on your objectives and the kind of experience you'd like to create.

What kinds of workshops and partnerships do you take on?

I work on projects centred around psychology, mental health, behaviour, and wellbeing across a variety of settings. This includes topics such as emotional wellbeing, stress and burnout, relationships, communication, psychological safety, self-awareness, leadership, digital wellbeing, workplace mental health, and other areas related to human behaviour. These can take the form of workshops, webinars, panel discussions, keynote talks, training programmes, consultation, content development, or longer-term collaborations. If you're working on something that aligns with these areas, I'd be happy to hear more about it.
